Avions Mauboussin

Avions Mauboussin is an aircraft manufacturer founded in 2011 by David Gallezot, private pilot, graduate engineer of the Ecole Polytechnique and Supaero, based in Belfort since 2017. After relaunching the legendary aviation brand, Avions Mauboussin is building on its heritage to design the next generation of clean, quiet, ultra-short take-off and landing (STOL) aircraft. A generation that will introduce responsible regional air mobility using hydrogen, meeting the requirements of modern transport and the new ecological values of customers, pilots and passengers. The objective is to allow responsible interurban mobility and access to areas of interest today closed to conventional aircraft, to operate as close as possible to final destinations and using reduced infrastructure. Two industrial programs are underway: Alérion M1h (light tandem two-seater aircraft, 1st flight in early 2023), Alcyon M3c (regional hybrid multi-engine 6-seater, 1st flight in 2024). Avions Mauboussin won the Aeronautical Recovery Plan, with its Zephyr project – hybrid hydrogen propulsion – selected by the French State as part of the investment support in the aeronautics industry and received a €800,000 grant.

The cockpit of Alérion M1h is its pilot’s domain of predilection and its passenger’s flying desk. The cockpit is at the cutting edge of technology, adding safety features, along with driving (steering?) pleasure. The fully digital and connected avionics support the pilot in all phases of flight, from preparation to maintenance planning. The very large canopy provides maximum visibility, aided by the retracted position of the wing which clears a field of vision at 180 ° even for the rear seat. The height offset of the seats gives the rear seat the same visibility as the front seat. The seats are Alcantara-upholstered, heated, and tailor-made for the crew. The cockpit is connected to the Internet thanks to a WIFI bubble, a satellite and 4G link. The luggage compartment accommodates two “business class” sized suitcases or two golf caddies!

FEMTO-ST Institute

The FEMTO-ST Institute “Franche-Comté Electronics MechanicsThermal Science and Optics – Sciences and Technologies”,is a joint research institution, which is under the quadruple authority of the Université de Franche-Comté (UFC), the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS), the Ecole Nationale Supérieure deMécanique et Microtechniques (ENSMM) and the Université deTechnologie Belfort-Montbéliard (UTBM). The specificity of FEMTO-ST is to associate the Sciences and Technologies of Information and Communication (STIC) with Engineering Sciences. Its thematic field covers optics, acoustics, micro nanosciences and systems, time-frequency, automatic, computer science, mechatronics, as well as mechanics and materials, energy and electrical engineering. The SHARPAC team pursues and develops its research in the fields of electric vehicles and renewable energy, with a specific focus on hydrogen-energy. It is particularly involved in FCLAB and in the French national federation on hydrogen energy FRH2 (CNRS). The scientific topics concern the increase of energy efficiency and durability of hydrogen-based systems. For the Mat’éco team, focus is on the study and development of materials and structures subjected to complex loads in aggressive environments. This is also, and above all, the case of hydrogen interactions in all materials used for storage in this energy carrier. The MINAMAS team works on Mechanosynthesis of intermetallics and characterization of their hydrogen storage properties: Understanding of the mechanisms of hydrogen absorption and restitution by nanocrystalline metals and alloys produced by mechanosynthesis, in comparison with their conventional polycrystalline counterparts.

Its Centre for Applied Linguistics (CLA) is one of the world’s leading schools for teaching French as a foreign language and French linguistics.
